Scooter activities, clubs and racing
Scooters are a cheap and reliable source of transport, but scooters are meant for much more than getting around town... Become part of Cape Town's fantastic scooter culture by scooting around our beautiful city. Some of the scooter activities that are popping up all over the show include: Scooter breakfast runs, Scooter weekends away, Scooter owners parties & Scooter racing Scooter Reviews:Get yourself a scooter! You'll be flying, you will feel like a bird, wings out-stretched, gliding effortlessly over the ground. Hmmm...pure bliss!
The navy blue scooter is a Vespa 150cc - from Vespa Cape Town. Red Yesterday - Jonway Very retro, very comfortable and very nice riding position. This scoot is definitely meant for city commuting and like me, it's built for comfort and not speed - although I did manage to get 110 kms on a downhill and even at this speed, the Yesterday is solid! Midnight Blue - Vespa LX 150 - My immediate impression was the upright sitting position which was superbly comfortable. The handle bars are in a straight line to the control panel which makes using the flickers extremely easy - just a slight movement of your right thumb and the flicker is on. Twist the throttle grip and you get an immediate response, not a lurch forward, but a nice steady yet powerful pull away. Your feet kind of automatically glide onto the foot rest panel, perfect positioning. This bike is a stunning little commuter - for a 150cc that weighs only 110kg she's very stable and reliable and I will highly recommend her to anyone looking to move up into the scooter market. Veterano - Jonway In my personal opinion, this is the nicest Jonway scooter available because it is both comfortable and it responds when you twist the throttle. It's riding position is more upright than the Yesterday and the handle bars are more in a straight line than the curve of the Yesterday. This gives it a bit of a "Vespa type" look. I think the Veterano would appeal more to the "mature" client as it is very elegant and also has that 60's look and feel about it. Pink Galactica - Jonway Now this bike is small in stature but has a powerful little 125cc engine. Actually, all the scooters had 125cc engines but the styling definitely made a difference in the power out-put. The Galactica's have a more sporty, fun, zippy look about them and a high school or varsity student would do extremely well on one of these bikes. The El Ninjo - Jonway The only bike that stands out from the crowd, wow! This 125cc scooter performs in the class of a 150cc scooter. It is extremely quick especially when slightly modified. I only got to ride it in the parking area of Joe Cools in Durban and I nearly saw my ass! Jonway Jonway scooters are well priced starting at R8500 for the Yesterday and going up to R9 500 (May 2010) for the El Ninjo and they last. We really got to put them through their paces and besides the odd and silly breakdown, we did not have any problems with them. We rode them over 6 days for approximately 400kms per day at full throttle and they all survived the thrashing. Honda Cub The Honda Cub is the most popular motorcycle with the most units sold over the past 50 years - 60 million units sold, YES, I SAID 60 million. These bikes are used all over the world as commuters for business people in the Far East, transport for entire families in India and fun bikes for people of all ages in the Western world. Other Eurojet, Kymco, Vespa, Skygo, Vuka, Big Boy, SYM etc ...so many to chose from!
